IP surveillance gives users the ability to monitor, record video and/or audio over Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN). An IP system usually involves the use of network cameras connected through a POE switch to a Network Video Recorder (NVR). Analog cameras connected to a DVR acting as a digital encoder which itself is connected to an NVR can also be part of an IP system. Computers are used for monitoring, managing, and saving recorded video from the NVR using a web browser or CMS software. Video and/or audio streams can be sent to any location through wired and/or wireless IP network which enables users to access the image from anywhere.
