Q. What kind of Hard Drive should I use for my DVR?
A. Any standard IDE hard drive ATA 133 between 80 and 320GB will work. You can purchase one at any computer store or you can call your nearest dealer or distributor. The part number for the drive and tray is DTLA -(Size of the Hard Drive).
Q. How should I set up my Hard Drive jumper?
A. This should be set as “CS Enable” or “DS master”. Either one will work, but if there are two hard drives, both need to have the same setting. DO NOT set any hard drive to Slave.
Q. Is it possible to erase some part of my Hard Drive?
A. No, you can not erase part of your hard drive.
Q. How can I erase everything from my Hard Drive?
A. You can do a Disk Renew on the hard drive. This is found under Disk Menu for EDSR 1600/900/600/400F. For other EDSR series it is under System Setting menu.
Q. How long should “System Loading” be displayed?
A. System loading should not be displaying for more than one minute.
Q. I can not start recording.
A. Check that the Hard Drive is fully inserted into the unit, that the lock is turned, and that the green drive light is on. If you still can not record, power down the DVR, unlock and remove the hard drive, then reinsert and lock it again.
Q. I am recording on motion, but only getting a few hours of recording time on my Hard Drive.
A. If you are recording on motion only, you will need to activate the Permanent Record option in the Record Menu. Set Permanent Record to ON and select a lower speed than the Alarm Record speed. (If you are connected on a network, 0.5 IPS is the lowest recommended setting) After exiting from the menu, make sure that the REC light is constantly on. This feature is only available on EDSR 1600/900/600/400F with firmware version 1.09 or higher.
Q. Can I schedule motion recording on my EDSR?
A. Motion recording must either be set on or off. It cannot be assigned to a schedule on the EDSR.
Q. I can not stop recording.
A. Make sure Permanent, Motion, Alarm, and Timer recording are all set to OFF. Then exit from the Menu and press the Stop button.
Q. Do I need to stop recording to do a play back?
A. For our duplex (EDSR 1600/900/600/400F) units you can playback while it is recording.
Q. How can I erase everything from my Flash card?
A. You can erase you flash card by using your computer through the card reader. If you are using the EDSR400H, you can also use the CF Format option in the System Setting Menu.
Q. How can I upgrade my DVR with current version of software?
A. You can check for upgrades for your DVR from the site: http://www.everfocus.com/support_bulletins.asp. If you need multiple upgrades, contact our technical support department for more information.
Q. My EDSR 400H’s screen shows “Wait SB download FPGA,” what should I do? (EDSR400H only)
A. It means your EDSR400H needs a software update. If you restart your DVR the message will go away; however, the message will eventually appear on the monitor again if you don’t update your DVR. Check here for the most current version software http://www.everfocus.com/support_bulletins.asp
Q. How can I find out what version of software I have on my DVR?
A. For EDSR 1600/900/600/400F, you will find the software version in the Clock Menu. For the EDSR400H/100H/110, you will find it under System Setting Menu.
Q. When I zoom in I can go only right and left. How can I go up and down?
A. To go UP and Down press ENTER. To go back to right and left, press ENTER again.
Q. How can I change between viewing screens?
A. By pressing MODE you can go to different viewing screen.
Q. How can I select different cameras in different quadrants?
A. You can press the SELECT button and then press the desired camera button to display the desired camera in the quadrant.
Q. How can I enable the password on my EDSR 900/1600/600/400F after exiting out of Menu?
A. Once you enable the password from System Setting menu, exit out of the menu then press the SELECT button and hold it for 3 seconds to activate the password for the front panel. This will put you in level 1mode.
Q. My camera pictures seem bright and/or washed out.
A. Make sure that all cameras are connected on the second row of video connections (input), not the top row (output).
Q. What’s the default user name and password for the DVR over the network?
A. There are three different levels for logging in to the network viewer. The Administration level uses "admin" for both user name and password; the General level uses "general" for both; and the Guest level uses "guest" for both. All user names and passwords are lower-case.
Q. What does Guest, General and Admin passwords mean?
A. Guest will allow you to view live only. General will allow you to view live and do the play back as well. Admin will allow you to view live, playback, and start/stop recording on the DVR.
Q. How can I change my password for remote viewing?
A. You can change your user name and password in the Network Setting Menu. After changing user name and password exit out of the menu all the way and restart your DVR.
Q. How can I change to a different camera over the network?
A. You can right-click on any screen and select the camera that you want to see instead.
Q. How can I go to full screen mode over the network?
A. You can switch to full screen mode, by clicking on full screen on the right bottom off of your screen.
Q. Will my anti-virus software cause any problem for remote viewing (McAfee port blocking issue)?
A. Most antivirus programs do not interfere with our network viewer. However, some versions of McAfee will block port 6666, and some spam-blockers do the same. The quickest solution is to temporarily disable these programs while connecting to the DVR.
Q. What is the maximum cable distance for RS-485 communications?
A. The maximum recommended distance of 24AWG RS-485 cable is 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) without repeaters.
